Ketamine 10%, inj

Ketamine is used for anesthesia for diagnostic or short surgical operations, for the induction of anesthesia to be maintained with other agents, and as supplementary anesthetic for use with nitrous oxide and oxygen. It produces dissociative aneastesia characterised by catelepsy, amnesia, and marked analgesia which may persist in the recovery period. 
There is often an increase in muscle tone and the patient eyes may remain open for all part of the period of anaesthes. Ketamine produces anaesthesia within 3 to 4 minutes lasting for 12 to 25 minutes. Recovery period is 30 to 60 minutes.
